Tipperary Energy Agency have developed a good relationship with Moyne Templetuohy GAA after project managing the upgrade of their lighting system to a more energy efficient system in 2018. A total investment of €95,000 (including VAT) was used to install a total of 44 LED lights around the main pitch, training pitch and astroturf ball wall. The new lights have reduced the energy demand required to run the pitch lighting by 46% and light levels are now up to current sports lighting standards. The upgrade was 50% funded through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s Better Energy Communities (BEC) programme. The club also availed of funding through Tipperary County Council’s Capital Grants for Community Facilities & Amenities programme.
