This course is part of a series of training opportunities that will bring some of the best international experience in district heating to Ireland. Smart Reflex aims to support the development of district heating based on renewable energy sources (RES) through know-how transfer and exchange of experience.
The training course focused on the planning and technical design aspect of developing and operating a RES district heating project. It was a unique opportunity for participants to gain an insight into the Danish experience of designing and deploying successfully district heating with renewable energy.
Approximately 20 people attended the 3 day course, many of which have potential projects in the pipeline.
One participant noted after the course, “Very fruitful training course focusing on the planning and technical design aspect of developing and operating a RES district heating project. Including insight into the Danish experience of design and deployment of successful district heating with renewable energy. I particularly liked the mixture of case studies and examples from the Danish experts and the adaptation of these designs and application to suit the Irish examples. The hands on approach which allowed participants to size pipes and calculate heat losses was also very beneficial, as was the exposure to EnergyPro software, a modelling software package which combines techno-economic analysis and optimisation of complex energy projects.”
