Solar Meitheal Opportunity
Neighbours going solar, together.
The Solar Meitheal brings households, community facilities and small local businesses across five Tipperary villages together to secure a fair, vetted price on solar PV, delivered by Tipperary Energy Agency with Tipperary County Council.
About the pilot
What is Solar Meitheal?
Meitheal is an old Irish term that refers to people coming together to help one another harvesting crops, saving hay, or cutting turf. It embodies the spirit of community, cooperation, and working together.
Helping communities go solar, together
Solar Meitheal is for helping households, community facilities, and small local businesses to install Solar PV. This project channels that same community spirit, helping neighbours work together to install Solar PV, reducing energy costs, improving comfort, and lowering carbon emissions.
Delivered with Tipperary County Council
The project is open to households, community facilities, and small local businesses across five villages and their hinterlands within the Mid-Tipperary Decarbonising Zone. Led locally by Tipperary Energy Agency.
