Powering Sport with
Sustainable Energy
Sports clubs and leisure facilities are central to communities but are also highly energy‑intensive. High lighting, heating and hot‑water demands drive up costs and emissions. Tipperary Energy Agency helps sports clubs, leisure centres and swimming pools cut energy use, reduce running costs and create healthier, more sustainable facilities. As a not‑for‑profit, our advice is independent and outcome‑focused. We have extensive experience nationwide, including leading the transformation of Lahinch Leisure Centre into Ireland’s first NZEB leisure centre. Since then, we have been recognised as Ireland’s leader in Leisure Centre Retrofits and have worked with multiple municipalities and Local Authorities across Tipperary, Clare, Limerick, Kerry, Galway, Donegal and Sligo. From clubhouse upgrades to full leisure‑centre retrofits, we deliver proven impact.

Energy Efficient Design
Energy Efficient Design (EED) is a structured approach to managing energy performance throughout the development and delivery of retrofit, renovation and new construction projects.

Fabric Upgrades
The building fabric – including the roof, walls, floors, windows, doors and airtightness – plays a fundamental role in determining how much energy a building needs to operate. At Tipperary Energy Agency, we assess the existing fabric and identify opportunities to reduce heat loss, improve thermal comfort and create a more efficient building.

Solar PV
Solar Photovoltaics (PV) is a technology that converts daylight directly into electricity that can be used to power your business. Our experienced team of engineers will assess whether Solar PV is technically and financially feasible for your business.
Learn more about Solar PV for your business here.
Heat Pumps
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs), Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) and High Temperature Heat Pumps (HTHPs) all use electricity to transfer renewable heat into a building. Each offers unique advantages depending on your building, heating system and energy requirements. We assess your property and operational needs to identify the most suitable heat pump solution for your business.
Learn more about heat pumps here.
Biomass
Biomass fuel is a renewable, sustainable energy source that delivers reliable, cost-effective heating. It offers a range of benefits for businesses, including reduced heating costs and exemption from carbon tax.
Learn more about Biomass for your business here.
Bivalent Hybrid Heating Solutions
Bivalent and hybrid heating systems combine a heat pump with a secondary heat source, such as an existing gas, oil, biomass or electric boiler. This approach allows businesses to use the heat pump for a significant proportion of their heating demand (>90%) while retaining the existing or secondary heat source to provide additional capacity when required.

Retro-commissioning
Retro-commissioning (RCx) is a structured process used to improve the performance of existing buildings by ensuring systems are operating, controlled and maintained as intended. TEA can provide a structured Building Energy Optimisation and Retro-Commissioning assessment to understand how your building is currently operating and identify opportunities for improvement.

Planning & Environmental
Planning is often an essential step in the project timeline for delivering large infrastructure projects. Ground-mounted solar PV arrays, solar carports, battery storage, commercial scale biomass plants, etc. often require planning permission, or at least formal confirmation with the relevant local authority. Environmental requirements often apply in parallel with planning permission.
Tipperary Energy Agency provide independent technical support to establish the planning requirements, the evidence required to support them, and how those requirements fit into the wider project programme. Learn more here.
ESB Networks Integration
Many energy projects require engagement with ESB Networks to secure grid connections, increase site capacity, export electricity, or connect renewable technologies. TEA provides independent technical support to help clients navigate application requirements, connection processes, and grid-related challenges.
