IN-PLAN presented at FEDARENE Annual General Assembly

Lisa Vaughan and Daniel Robinson represented the Tipperary Energy Agency (TEA) at the Annual General Assembly of FEDARENE, the European network of regional and local energy agencies. The event convened senior representatives from across Europe to review progress, exchange strategic insights and identify opportunities for accelerating the energy transition.

Daniel outlined the IN-PLAN practice, part of the EU LIFE programme, which provides a structured approach for integrating climate, energy, and spatial planning to strengthen local implementation. The IN-PLAN project spans across five European countries, Sweden, Romania, Croatia, Italy and Ireland. He detailed how the methodology has been applied in Ireland, resulting in improved alignment between local authority planning processes and climate objectives, as well as the delivery of measurable outcomes.

In Ireland, the Tipperary Energy Agency (TEA) is collaborating with Donegal County Council, Tipperary County Council and the Southern Regional Assembly to advance the integration of spatial planning with climate action objectives. The ‘Forward guidance on Renewable Energy Strategy’ presented to TCC and SRA discusses the areas in RE that can be strengthened in the next review of the SRES. The ‘Town Repopulation strategy’ aligns with the Towns First policy of Government of Ireland.
